Wheee! Today was a little more exciting that I thought it would be. I got all the things I expected to get, including a H-U-G-E book on learning PHP and how to do stuff with it. Gonna read that along with the advice on CodeGrrl.com to see what I can come up with in the way of PHP-ness. Really want to be able to do more with it that just include pages and set the time and date. XD

Saw Dodgeball yesterday with my brother (and again today with the boyfriend :P ). It was better than I thought it would be cos they play around with stereotypes a bit (I'm a media student, I'm taught to look for these sorts of things :P ) and really the film's made for the sake of ... well, making a film. It's completely stupid but that's its point and I think it works quite well.

Enough reviewing. Gonna see about doing a new layout for this place. Although I'm not tired of this layout, it has been up for about 3 months now and... yeah. Little bit of change needed methinks.

Great day.

Well today I spent most of my time doing nothing but waiting. My mum had the wonderful idea that we should go and renew my french ID card this morning since it runs out tomorrow, so off we went to London early this morning to go to the French Embassy and get it done.

Train was late. And full. And delayed due to problems with the track. Anyway, we arrived about half an hour late into Paddington then got on yet another full train.
Got to Embassy and had to queue outside to get in cos they were searching everone's bags and stuff just like at airports so it was super slooooow. We were given ticket number 81. Cool. Go to waiting room. Sign says, "Now serving: 35". Ok, it'll be a little wait.

...sign does not change to 36 for at least half an hour.

We waited 4 hours to be seen and I don't get my ID back til next year. Woman answered personal phone calls while seeing to us which held us up even more. Grrr.

All trains on way back were packed.

Town where I live packed also, due to Reading Festival (the rock festival, that is... nothing to do with books). Spent ages in traffic. Got back 6pm.

All in all a really great day, made much much better by the fact that we could have done it all on the net... But nooo they don't tell you that on the phone line thing. Idiots.

Anyway. My birthday tomorrow (yay. Not.)... Gotta say, I'm not really looking forward to it this year. Normally it's like, YAY BIRTHDAY but nah. This is gonna be one of those days where I'm doing normal things with normal people just like any other normal day. Except I'll be a year older. Which won't feel any different.

Blah.

Essays done (of 3, need to be done by Thursday): 1
Progress made on accommodation: none, due to having to cancel it all (see previous post)
Money: none
Likelihood of ever moving out: none

Hmmm. Things don't look too good right now.
Aaaanyway, for those who care about these kinda things, I updated my forms to PHP rather than old buggy formmail (which was banned on my server some time ago apparently. Oops. >.< ).
I also got my hosting account split for hosting one of the domains I maintain for someone else, which means I at least get some help towards paying for it. The bad-ish news is that it takes up some of my space and 2GB of my bandwidth so it means I can take less hostees. But yeah. With extra money I can buy extra space etc etc etc.

I was recently advised to start my own webdesign/hosting business (by my dad, no less). Lol whatever. I may do some half-decent (in my opinion) stuff for my own site, but no way am I good enough for professionalism in that area. Psh.

[EDIT] By the way, if anyone uses Zonealarm Pro to view this site, then I suggest you take off the ad blocker for just this site. I upgraded to ZaP the other day and since then it keeps blocking half my images, believeing them to be ads. No. Not ads. Daft Prog.[/EDIT]
