Voxxy ramblings

This post is mainly to test my Vox integration, but will also serve as an update since I haven't written anything for a week.

So yes, Vox. I got an account a while ago to catch up with some friends, but other than doing the question of the day, I haven't been using it much. I'm not a huge fan of its dodgy WYSIWYG interface and the fact that it's full of AJAX and JavaScript means it's really slow to load (but really fast once it has!). Also, you can't customise the way it looks and that annoys me a lot. At least with LiveJournal you can change the colours and even make new layouts if you know how to use the overrides or have a paid account. With Vox, you can't even change the colours. Meh. I appreciate that it's still in beta, but it's being officially launched sometime next week (29th I think?) so I don't think they're planning too many changes. :\

Right then, I have a dissertation draft thing to finish before Wednesday morning and I have barely started it. Better go and do that, I think...

Sitey stuff

I have been doing a few minor site changes recently. The most noticeable (to me, at least) is that I now have Mint, after debating for ages about whether or not to get it. So far, I'm quite impressed with it - though I would like to see more "Pepper" (Mint plugins) available to extend the features.

The second thing I've done, which is probably more noticeable to you than me, is that I have added my Flickr account to my feed, through Feedburner. So now you can keep up with my photos as well as my blog entries. Yay :)

Other than that, I'm still not done with my custom CMS. The more I think about it, the more it's becoming WordPress... Although I didn't copy any of the code (except its paragraph parsing, because I'm rubbish at regular expressions :P ), it's pretty much the same thing at the moment. This annoys me and pleases me at the same time - annoying because there's no point me writing this if it does the same thing as what I've already got, and pleasing because I never thought I could replicate the wonder that is WP. Still a long way to go before I'm anywhere near ready to use it on a live site though, so WP is staying for now. Woo.

OMG and it's Friday the 13th!1!1!1

Back again...

I figured I should probably write something since my last post was over 3 weeks ago...

Uni is back in session, got a lecture in 40 minutes in fact. Really would prefer to sleep though :( Don't really fancy spending two hours in some lecture doing a presentation on a subject I don't understand.

Anyway. It's been a year since I made this post, but the same still applies. I'm currently active in 3 forums, having been banned from one (not my fault) and having lost interest in another. I need me some new forums to join! I'm especially interested in coding forums, such as the CodeGrrl ones (though I'm already a member there, so don't suggest that) - general "chatty" forums don't seem to keep me that interested at the moment. I was thinking about the lissaexplains.com forums, but wading through the OMG HOW DO I MAK TRANZPARANT IFRAMEZ posts will probably see me wanting to stab my eyes out with a fork. Ew.

So yeah, all suggestions will be considered if you have any to make. :)

Got to go to uni now. Ooooh.
