I need some new online haunts. Currently, I'm only a member of one forum and it's not very busy or very exciting since it's a support forum. Anyone have any recommendations? Most of the 'popular' boards I've been to all have the same kind of format; a board-related part (announcements, introductions etc.), online/offline life parts, and a couple of other random ones. This makes it kind of pointless me joining more than one board, since they're all pretty much the same... The only difference would be the people.
That's another thing about message boards... As a noob, you're instantly outcast from all the others who have like 53920539 posts. On some boards I've visited, that's a really big deal - "OMG U LYkE CAN't aCCeSS tHiS bOARd tIL U g0t LyKe 10391093013 p0Stz!1!!!!1111" - the only thing noobs can do is to post in the intro forum and similar "dead" forums. :\ Pointless, in my opinion. Another thing I really hate... "You must register before you can view these boards." How am I meant to know if I want to join if I can't get an idea of the forum? Argh. I did start my own back in 2002 but it was for my current hostees only and in the end it kinda died since there was never really anything to talk about.
This wasn't supposed to turn into a rant. Anyway, I'm open to all suggestions.

SNOG! is good ^ as linked above.. but the friendliest forum I've ever visited is Cockadoodledoo. They made me feel welcome the second I joined (none of this "you must have 902090 posts" crap) and all of the members are fun and trustworthy.

What kind of board does that to new members!? Post count doesn't matter at all, for anything, zero percent. Like the two above folks, SNOG! and Cock are great...sort of depends on your personality and Cock does have the post count drawback, but they never ever make anyone feel badly about it. SNOG! we don't even talk about post count, it's totally taboo. ;) I'm a little biased since I co-own SNOG! but both of those boards are really aimed at friendship and making new pals. You should check them out and read around. :D
