Please teach Akismet

To everyone who uses the Akismet anti-spam system: please check your spam queues because poor old Jem is STILL being marked as spam even though she and others have spent most of yesterday telling Akismet that she isn't a spammer.

(I'll have my cheque now please, Jem. :P)

In other highly interesting news... I got a new phone (yay for free network upgrades!). It's a Motorola KRZR K1. It's small and thin, but I'm not sure I prefer it over my RAZR V3i... Time will tell, I felt this way about the RAZR when I first got it, but I ended up keeping it. Meh.

...is in the works.

Any feature requests or improvements that you would like to see in the new version?

So far, version 3 contains the following new features:

  • Customisation through templates
  • User-end searching
  • Automatic WordPress configuration

As well as the following improvements:

  • Summary by category now optional
  • "Sort alphabetically by category" option removed, though individual category sorting still remains
  • Better URL structure
  • faq.php removed - index.php is now the main page
  • Improved login security
  • Complete code rewrite, now uses Object Oriented Programming
  • New database structure for improved performance

Anyone want anything else?

Also, a new version of NL-PHPMail has been released (2.2), so you should all go and download it right now. Yes.

In other coding-related news, I have successfully managed to integrate Akismet into my CMS. I think it's all working properly, and besides a few problems the other day when either everything was spam or everything was ham (not spam), it seems to be working now and genuine comments are being let through while spammy ones are not. Not that I've had any spam while using this CMS yet, but I'm sure I will.

Because I am not a sell out.

As tempting as the idea is, I refuse to be paid to blog. My site is not a tool for anyone - least of all me - to make money; it serves as a creative outlet for me so that I can show off my super-1337 intarwebz sk1llz1!11 because I'm geeky and I simply must have an internet presence.

Do you see any advertising on this site (other than a couple of links to similar sites, but they are all non-profit and generally agree with me on this standpoint)? No. There will never be advertising on this site, and especially not spam disguised as a blog entry. I am not going to lie through my teeth and bore all 2 of my visitors to death by talking about how great it is now that my [begin obligatory link] mortgage debts [/end obligatory link] have been cleared by some scammy company or how I really should be [link!1!1] losing weight [/link] by taking some dodgy pill just to get $5 out of it. I could work a real job (*gasp!* Those actually still exist!1!) and get that in under an hour.

Want to lose all your visitors? Go ahead, sell your site. And your soul. To me, you just look greedy and like you can't be bothered to go out and get a real job.
